NAB Cup - Semi Final Previews

We are down to the Semi Finals in the NAB Pre Season Cup in the AFL. This god forsaken competition just seems to go on forever when all we really want is the season proper to kick off. Unfortunately we will have to wait a few more weeks for that.
In pre season competitions and even early in the season, I am very loathed to take favourites but this week I am going to break this rule as I think both favourites will comfortably win this weekend.
Firstly Collingwood are at $1.23 to beat Essendon. Collingwood has looked impressive so far in the NAB Cup and Essendon are going to rest their players. The Pies will be too strong in all facets of this game and even though it resembles a VFL game I think the Pies will win and win easily.
The second game is a perfect example of why this competition is a disgrace. Carlton are going to rest all their big name players against Geelong. I can understand why Carlton doesn't want to let their stars get bashed up by a Cats outfit, that appear to be trying to win the competition in some ridiculous self appeasement exercise, after last year's shock lost in the Grand Final. Don't get too excited about the price as Geelong is at $1.10 to win. Geelong will win by close to 100 points, in a game that makes a mockery of this whole pointless exercise.
Sportsbet.com.au should have line bets for both games closer to kick off and I would be taking both of the favourites at the minus. To be totally truthful though I will be watching some rugby, cricket and horse racing waiting for the real AFL season to start in a few weeks time.
