English football appears to be heading into the crazy season with lots of movement from players and coaches. The most interesting of the lot is the departure of Scolari from Chelsea. Scolari hasn't exactly let the team turn to ruin, but the hunger for success at Chelsea is unbridled. The fans expect them to win every game as does their eccentric billionaire Russian owner Ambromovich.
It will be very interesting to see who takes over the reins in the long term at Chelsea. Even Guus Hiddink has been touted as a long term replacement as he has strong ties with Russian football and Ambromovich himself. The Premier league has seen Manchester United emerge as the very hot favourite and sportsbet.com.au has them at $1.20. This is very short but it is hard to see anyone else toppling them at the moment. Liverpool, after such an impressive start has slipped to a clear second pick at $6.00 but not only would everything have to go right in Liverpool, things would have to go wrong at Manchester as well. The only other hope is still Chelsea, though at $17.00 this seems very unlikely indeed. Another interesting market in the Premier League is the top goal scorer that appears to have turned into a two horse race. The footballer of the year Christiano Ronaldo is the favourite currently showing $2.75, but hot on his heels is Nicolas Anelka at $3.50. They are the only two in single figures with Torres and Robinho both at $11.00 being the next shortest. Basically, if you are a United fan then you should take the shorts about the prettiest man playing football, but if you're like me then you might want to throw a few quid on Anelka to ruin his party.
