Anthony "The Man" Mundine Boxing in Australia has had an interesting period with no huge local match up since Anthony Mundine put an end to Danny Green's ambitions of rising to the top a few years back.
Mundine has been widely criticised in recent years for taking fights against weak opposition but it is hard to argue against his rationale as he keeps racking up the victories and the bank balance, in fights that mean nothing but still attract interest against C grade opposition.
His next mission might not be as easy as his last few fights when he takes on former Aussie champions Shannon "The Bulli Blaster" Taylor on Wed the 11tth of Feburary. Taylor, now 36, may be past his best but if this is not the case he will

certainly offer stiff opposition for Mundine who has continued to duck and weave any real contenders. Taylor has fought in the US against the very best there and was just below the grade needed to crack it big, but he certainly showed that he was capable of matching it with the best.
The war of words has been running hot with both fighters stating the obvious. Mundine has stated that it will be hard for Taylor to win a fight after years in the wilderness. Taylor has replied that the country will be behind him because Mundine has done a great job alienating most Australians. It will be a good fight that will come down to how well Mundine is prepared verses how over the hill Taylor is.
Sportsbet.com.au is one of the best books when it comes to the fight game and they have Mundine as a clear cut favourite at $1.15 with Taylor at $5.50. A bit of money came for Taylor around a week ago but the market has responded with some big money bet back on Mundine. It would be great to see Taylor take it up to Mundine but you would expect the self proclaimed 'man' to have too much class for the 'blaster'.
This weekend Victor Darchinyan will take on Jorge Arce in a junior Bantamweight bout. Darchinyan is a clear favourite at $1.25 but Sportsbet has an interesting over and unders market with over 8.5 rounds at $2.50 offering what looks like great value.
