The 2009 Academy Awards Preview

The Academy Awards are coming around again quickly and there is always plenty of betting scandals and spirited wagering for what people think will be the best movie and the best actors. I will pretty much bet on anything but for some reason this market leaves me flat. I know plenty of pros that love to punt on the movies and make good money. I think it's because I find the whole show so boring that I can't be entertained by the whole thing, but HEY if there's easy money to be made then there is no excuse.
Sportingbet.com.au has got nearly all the markets covered you may want to throw your hard earned on and you never know if you pick the right winner you will be able to pay for plenty of movie tickets. The show piece of the whole award night is best picture and this year Slumdog Millionaire is a short priced favourite at $1.25. Not only does the movie sound far from exciting the price is even more dire, so I will be cheering for Milk at $11.00.
Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler appears much more up my alley and he is at $1.60 for best actor. His closest rival is Sean Penn from the movie Milk at $2.75. I am a fan of both of these guys so would be happy whichever way it goes.
You can't forget the ladies and Kate Winslet for her role in The Reader is favourite at $1.60. She is a good sort and more importantly a good actress so you would have to give her every opportunity. Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep are the only other contenders under $10 and are both currently at $4.50.
As far as I'm concerned, I would rather have a bet on a horse or a football team and then go and watch a movie at the cinemas. But each to their own, and if snuggling up on the coach with some popcorn and a hot chocolate watching a pack of overpaid entertainers dazzle you to death with their wit and charm is more your go, then you may as well make a few dollars while you do it.
