It has been many years since Australia started a test series as underdogs. Well believe it, as it is happening over in India right now. I can't believe that there isn't more hype about this series as I suspect it could be a fascinating series. I wish it was 5 tests not 4 but unfortunately the people in control are more interested in money than world class cricket.
Not only are the Indians favourites I think the Australians are way too short still in betting. Sportsbet.com.au has India as slight favourites at $2.25 in front of the Australians at $2.50. The draw is also well in the market at $4.25. I think the Indians are excellent value here and would still be backing them at even money. The Indians were excellent in Australia last summer. They got ambushed early in the tour, through bad management and a horrible schedule and finished the series the better team. They also have some excellent young talent getting better and some veterans that would love to finish their career by sticking it up the Aussies. The Aussies on the other hand are in disarray. They don't have a spinner, they have a suspect pace attack outside of Brett Lee and will struggle to bowl the Indian side out over there once let alone twice every test match. Their batting is not much better with the top three struggling to score runs and a middle order featuring an out of form Hussey, an arrogant Clarke and no Symonds who will be off fishing. Get on the Indians and maybe the Aussies will get a nice dose of reality. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
