England, under new captain Kevin Pieterson, is taking on the South Africans in a one day series now that the test series has been completed. The Poms were excellent against the South Africans in the last test match and it will be interesting to see whether they can keep that form going into the one-dayers. Pieterson is a welcome addition to the English side, which needed a captain with ability and flair. If they can manage to get Freddy Flintoff fit and playing well, they will be a force in the series as they look forward to travelling to India and then facing the Aussies next year.

The other series is the one being played over on the sub-continent between the Sri Lankans and the Indians. The Sri Lankans were excellent in the test matches and really showed that they are not only in the top echelon of one day sides but have also come of age in the test arena. The Indians are an interesting proposition, who field vastly different test and one day sides. Many of their great players in the test side are certainly getting towards the end of their careers whilst their one day side is brimming with young talent.

The leadership of Dhoni has been a revelation to the Indians who are consistently breaking the so called rules of cricket, this time appointing a wicket keeper as captain. The 20/20 competition will also be of tremendous help to their younger players who will get plenty of exposure to top level cricket against many of the world's best.
