The Ryder Cup is a sporting event that sports betters love to bet on. I don't know why it lends itself so well to punting, but it is just makes great nail biting television. It must have something to do with watching a sport that is the ultimate test of the individual in a totally different format, where the individual takes a backseat to the team.
It is also amazing that the golfers take it so seriously. It's laughable watching tennis players pretend they care about the Olympics, but the Ryder Cup is different, theses guys really want to win. There has also been some tension in the part with even the wives of the players making snide sledges against each other. So what about the golf? Well it is a very interesting state of affairs this year with one big question. Is the best team or the home team going to win? There is little doubt that the European team is stronger. They have depth through the whole team, something which the Americans simply don't have. It has been strange, however, in Ryder Cup history where some of the bigger names falter under pressure and it will be interesting to see if this happens to the Europeans this year. No Tiger Woods is a bitter pill for the Americans to swallow but they believe they can win. The home field advantage is massive as the golfers aren't used to dealing with such patriotic crowds. Sportsbet.com.au has the Europeans as narrow favourites at around $1.90 with the Americans at better than even money due to the draw being part of the betting. I am going to take the Europeans because they SHOULD win on paper. I am not overly confident but I often think you can talk yourself out of a good bet in sport. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
