The World Series of Poker has changed its format this year and will hold the final table of the main event months after the event kicked off in Vegas in July. This has created huge debate in the poker world.
When I first heard of their plan I thought that the idea was a typical Harrahs stuff up. I have, however, turned around and think in many ways this is a stroke of genius. Poker needed some live action to spice up the product and by being able to broadcast the lead up just before they air the final table is going to take the sport to a whole new audience. The other great thing for punters is that they get to pick out a player and win a few dollars on them while they try their best to land the biggest prize in poker. Sportsbet.com.au has a market featuring the final 9 players and there is certainly some value there if you can pick the winner. There are no household names left in the field but the remaining 9 have to be given credit for out lasting thousands of starter. Well my tip would be David Rheem who is great value at 10.00. He doesn't have a huge stack but if he gets a little luck could easily walk away with the chocolates. He also has an interesting surname and for that deserves support. Look for value and remember you only have to win a pot early with a short stack to find yourself right in the mix. The big stacks are probably a little under the odds. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
