The World Series of Poker has changed its format this year and will hold the final table of the main event months after the event kicked off in Vegas in July. This has created huge debate in the poker world.

When I first heard of their plan I thought that the idea was a typical Harrahs stuff up. I have, however, turned around and think in many ways this is a stroke of genius. Poker needed some live action to spice up the product and by being able to broadcast the lead up just before they air the final table is going to take the sport to a whole new audience.
