Collingwood has dropped to a new low this weekend with Didak and Shaw being caught up in a drink driving scandal. What made the whole affair even more laughable was the fact that Collingwood management were the first ones to be telling everyone that they were dealing with the matter in their own way and weren't going to discipline their players. Twenty four hours later they had done a complete turn around and have publicly stated that both players will be sitting on the pine for the rest of the year.
The AFL has started to tread a slippery slope by expecting their teams to take a pro active stance in disciplining their own players. Maybe it is time that there were some measures put in place and some standard penalties for bringing the game into disrepute. Members of clubs should be shaking their heads wondering what their management team will do to their stupid players who make dumb decisions off the football field. All that aside it is going to be another great weekend of football with the two most important games being the Tigers who travel to Adelaide and the Pies who face the Saints. I really think the Tigers should beat Adelaide but I expect it to be a close game for a long way. Carlton should have beaten the Crows last weekend and I think the Tigers are a more complete team than the Blues and have a great record on the road. The Pies and the Saints might come down to who wants to lose it less and with all the turmoil you would have to think the Saints will just have enough to get over the Pies. It is these games that see the Pies lift and an upset wouldn't surprise. Sportsbet.com.au is the best place for all your AFL betting options. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
