Olympic Games - Mens 100m Preview

The Mens 100 metre sprint is the marque event of any Olympics. This is a fact, there is no argument, this is the event that tells us the fastest man in the world. It appears that we are down to three real contenders. Usain Bolt of Jamaica is the current world record holder and is favourite at $2.50. It is a pretty daunting fact that no man has ever ran faster than him and for that very fact deserves to be favourite.

The other two main contenders have been on top of their sport for some time and they know that their chance for gold is now not in the future. Bolt's country man Asafa Powell has had a reputation for being a chocker in the past but he held on to beat Bolt in Stockholm recently so his confidence should be on a high. He is also excellent value at $3.25.

The other big chance is the man running for the Stars and Stripes and Tyson Gay is a clear second pick at $2.60.

There is really nothing to separate these three guys and it is going to come down to who feels the best on the day, who gets the best start and who luck shines her fortune upon. The most important thing is that the world will be watching and one of these men will be the fastest in the world.
