Wimbledon Preview2008-06-09
James Potter
Rafael Nadal is a freak. He has played 28 times at Roland Garros for 28 wins. This is some kind of record for a man who is in his very early twenties. I thought that Federer had his best chance ever to topple the Spaniard but I was most certainly incorrect. He blasted away Federer and is now the undisputed best to ever play the game on the clay surface. Federer would have won at least two French Opens if it wasn't for Nadal which would have seen him considered the greatest ever on all surfaces but he can't lay claim to that title if he never wins in Paris. It is hard to ever see that happening now.
It is now onto Wimbledon which is certainly a different kettle of fish for the Swiss superstar who has dominated here over the last five years. Journalists and punters alike have raise the question what sort of mental damage was Nadal's demolition going to do to Federer? It is certainly an interesting question as the only question left of Federer was the French Open and it appears quite clear he just simply didn't have the answer. If, however, he can regroup then he can win this year at Wimbledon. Nadal and Djokovic appear equal second favourite at Partybets.com at $4.50. This appears good value over Federer who is still in the red at $1.90. On the next line of betting comes the American Andy Roddick at $15.00 who is the same quote as Scotsman Andy Murray. These two may be really good value at this price as there are arguments against the top three for many different reasons. Roddick is in pretty good form, has the experience and drive that could make him dangerous. Murray has a big power game that should be suited on grass and if he can keep things together and get some favours in the draw, could pose a threat come the second week. You can get better than 30/1 on any other starter and I would recommend that backing any of the other would amount to a donation. Remember that you will always get a better price if you do your work now and get on earlier rather than later and Partybets.com has all your tennis covered. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
