AFL - Round Eleven Preview2008-06-12
James Potter
The top seven on the AFL ladder appear to be nearly certainties to make the final 8. That leaves 5 possibilities for the final 8th spot. They would be North, Carlton, St Kilda, Port and Richmond. This will certainly keep us entertained for the rest of the season and it really is up for grabs.
North is the best drilled and already have a small break on the field but they certainly lack class in a competition that is getting classier every year. Carlton is a young emerging side with plenty of class but you would think they may be a year away. This week's blockbuster against the Pies will tell us a lot. St Kilda was heralded as contenders this year but has looked old, slow, tired and heartless. Unfortunately, this has been a common problem for the Sainters in recent years. If they start to get things together then they are the best placed to scrape through but the signs are far from positive at this stage. The only thing they have going for them is a few close victories that have kept them this close. Port Adelaide continues to look good and not win. Maybe the nightmare of that final Saturday in September last year is coming back to haunt them. It doesn't get any easier this weekend against the Premiers and they will need to have a blinding end to the season. The Tigers are the smokey and will have to get themselves right back on track against the hapless Demons this weekend. At their best this year they have looked like world beaters but the consistency must make all those yellow and black to the bone supporters wondering what side will turn up to play. Sportsbet.com.au has all the AFL covered and here are my line bets for this weekend; Essendon, Bulldogs, Freo, Sydney, Adelaide, Geelong, Collingwood and Richmond. They are all very tough games but I would have the Richmond Tigers as my bet of the round. Good luck and good punting. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
