UFC 84 - Mixed Martial Arts Preview2008-05-13
James Potter
Buckle up for UFC84 which promises to be another great card of Mixed Martial Art (MMA) action. I have said it before; when it comes to forking over the dollars for a pay for view fight card you get far more bang for you buck in an UFC Card than you do in any boxing card. All the fights in the UFC are worth watching and they take great care to get good match ups. Don't get me wrong, some fights are better than others but every fight has the potential to be cracker which hardly ever happens in boxing.
Partybets.com is an excellent site when it comes to having a punt on the ultimate fighting and its always more exciting when you have a few dollars on when watching two grown men thumping the living crap out of each other. The main event will see BJ Penn take on the Shark, Sean Sherk. Penn is just too polished for the Shark and I will be taking the $1.40 on offer on Penn. Tito Ortiz is a true champion of the sport and will be out to show his once good friend and UFC president Dana White where he can shove it, when he takes on Lyoto Machida. Ortiz is a rank outsider at $2.70 and certainly represents some value. Is Tito as good as he was a few years back? Probably not, but his is a champion and will bring plenty and as I am always a sucker for an oldie trying to relieve his glory days and will be taking the value in this fight. The last match we will have a look at it is another feature match which sees Wanderlei Silva taking on Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine. The Dean of Mean looks like a biker with his shaved head and long blonde goatie but is certainly one tough hombre. He is also the underdog at $2.30 on partybets.com as Silva is a punishing demolition machine. I like Jardine though as no matter how much Silva beats him he will still be throwing punches late in the fight. Even if you don't get a collect you will feel like you got $2.30 worth of entertainment from the Dean of Mean. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
