IPL - Rajusthan Royals v Deccan Chargers2008-05-09
James Potter
My boys the Jaipur Rajusthan Royals are taking on the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers to kick off this weekend's matches. For some strange reason the Royals are the underdogs and you can pick up the very attractive price of $2.25 at sportsbet.com.au. This price is ultra competitive. Due to the competition being in its infancy it is hard to get any real form guide on any of the games. So pick the team you like, try and get a good price and sit back and enjoy the show.
20/20 cricket is just that, it's a show. It's fast paced, exciting and over quickly and mark my words it won't be long before this is the number one form of the game for the majority of supporters. The game will take some time to develop as players, officials and supporters learn the more subtle nuances, but that will happen very quickly and it will become one of the biggest betting sports anywhere in the world. In other cricket there are two big tours coming up. The Kiwis travel to England to play the Poms and the Aussies travel over to the West Indies. It's hard to see any real upsets in either of these series. The Poms should account for the Kiwis in the 3 test series but I wouldn't be talking on the $1.25 that is readily on offer. The Kiwis have a reasonable medium pace attack that will get some movement and help from the pitches over there. If a couple of their batsmen were to stand up they could make it hard for the Poms. The Aussies still remember the days when they were belted by the once mighty West Indian cricket team and the battle for spots and the professional Aussie ethos to the game will see them come out on top. It's hard to see how the West Indian team will be able to dominate the Aussies at any stage. Their best chance is through their batting and the likes of Sarwan, Gayle and Chanderpaul will have to score plenty of runs against a bowling line up that features Brett Lee and precious little else.
