James Potter
There has never been such an inane event that continues to fascinate such a large percentage of the European population. For some strange reason it's an intriguing competition that makes for excellent television. The music is dire, the performers are laughable and there is always controversy about vote swapping but there is just something about this mix that keeps me and millions of others coming back year after year to watch.
Partybets.com has come to the party literally and is offering a market on which country will take the coveted trophy and get to host the event next year. The voting system is flawed beyond belief but it certainly makes for an exciting night of cheering for your favourite country or in my case who I have my money on. The Eastern block countries always tend to do well and are experts of fixing the votes so that they always poll well from their neighbouring countries. The western countries tend to be a little more impartial and actually vote for the better acts; a term I use very loosely in this instance. With all this in mind the country that I am going to back to walk away with all the chocolates this year is Armenia. They fit the bill geographically and they have an exceptionally gorgeous singer simply called Sirusho. The good thing about backing her is that every time Sirusho gets a vote you'll be able to cheer her on and look at her excited and very appealing face whilst she proudly waves the Armenian flag. Partybets.com has her as second favourite behind Russia at $5.50. The other country I will be having a bet on will be the Irish which is the most popular pick of the Western European countries at $9.00. They couldn't actually find a real singer this year and their contestant is a puppet called Dustin the Turkey who apparently is already a national icon. Dustin will sing a few bars whilst being pushed around in a shopping trolley and will be supported by some back up dancers prancing around in feather suits tastefully decorated in the Irish national colours. No I am not joking…..this is really what is going to happen….I can barely control my excitement. Who knows it's the sort of stunt that could win this competition as many muppets could be voting for the puppet. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
