USA Election Betting At PartyBets2008-05-19
James Potter
It looks nearly certain that Barack Obama will lead the Democrats against the Republicans later this year in what will be the most anticipated election for many years. You can still take Obama at Partybets.com at $1.10 to beat Hillary which is very short but some may say better than bank interest.
The value bet of the century may be at Partybets.com on the Republicans to win the election at $2.30. Six months ago you could have gotten even better, but I expect the Republicans to tighten in over the next few months. Politics, like sport, is an interesting thing to bet on. There are many contributing factors in what will happen and the secret is too wade past the media hype and look at what may or may not happen. I'll tell you why I think the Republican Party has a real chance to win what appeared the un-winnable election months ago; Firstly as many of you will already know, most states vote Republican or Democrat regardless every election. Considering the major issues in this election it is hard to see why this trend would change this time around. This means that states like Ohio and Florida will once again decide the election. What this means is that an Ohio pig farmer and a Florida blue rinse granny are at the forefront of the battle ground for this election. It's easy to get clouded with the big picture but you have to remember that the voters that matter in this election are a reasonably small but very important group. If Bill Clinton or Al Gore were to run for the Democrats then this election would be over before it began. This discussion would be pointless and I would be telling you to take $1.10 about the Democrats as they would be the biggest favourites in the history of elections. That, however, is not the case and Obama is a totally different kettle of fish for the average American voter. I have a secret suspicion that many middle Americans will say that they have no problem with a black president, but may find it hard to actually vote for him come election. The Republicans haven't even taken the butchers knife out of the rack yet, preferring understandably, for the Democrats to sling mud at each other and softening their team before the main event even starts. Is McCain the right man for the job considering that most men his age are already in the retirement village, probably not? But this election will not be about McCain it will be all about Obama. Make no bones about it, the Republican muck rakers will be licking their chops at the prospect of tarnishing the reputation of Obama. The Democrats may very well win this election, and I for one hope they do; but when it comes to making money on betting I will be heading to partybets.com to load up on the Republicans at $2.30 as I think they won't be that good a price once the real campaigning gets under way.
