Moto GP - Who is Value for the Title?2008-04-14
James Potter
One sport that is suited to little men with big hearts is that of motorbike racing. These crazy men fling themselves down the track at around 300km/h in a zone of somewhere in between going fast and totally out of control. In places like Italy and Spain this is the number 1 ranked sport and the riders live like rock stars. Car racing has its place but the great thing about the bikes is that there are plenty of overtaking opportunities. There are also no pit stops and other things that influence the race. It is man and his machine against other men and their machines.
There have been some interesting results so far this year and PartyBets has some markets that will whet the appetite of any punter. It appears that the race for the world championship has come down to four riders. The favourite is the current world champion, Australian Casey Stoner at $3.30. He drives a Ducati and it's nice to see a European manufacturer break the dominance of the Japanese bikes. The Ducati appears fast but the team certainly has had a few problems early on in the season. Stoner, currently lying 4th in the points, will need to find his form from last year if he is to repeat his heroics. Then there are three riders all at $3.50 and every one of them has a good chance. The first is the Italian superstar playboy Valentino Rossi on his Yamaha. If Rossi is not the greatest rider ever he is certainly the best in the last 10 years and every time he rides is a huge chance to win. The next two riders are both flying the flag for Spain and currently sit on top of the points table. Lorenzo, who is Rossi's Yamaha team mate, had his maiden win at Portugal last weekend and fulfilled his life long dream in impressive style. He started from pole position, had the fastest lap and came away with chocolates which put the youngster in with a real chance of winning the title. The last of the super 4 is the only Honda rider with any chance of winning the title Dani Pedrossa. After leading in Portugal and being over taken by Lorenzo, the young rider will be looking forward to the third race in China where he had his rookie victory back in 2006. It is really hard to split these 4 riders, so my advice is to pick your favourite, outlay a few dollars at PartyBets and have an interest in the Moto GP for the rest of the year.
