MLB Season Preview2008-04-07
James Potter
After a short break its time for that all American pastime to grace us again with its presence. Yep that's right…its time to head down to the ball park for a little Baseball. I love Baseball….it might have something to do with beer and hotdogs which I am also partial too. I also think it is a great sport to punt on and I always enjoy catching a few games when in the US.
As always, I think it's a great idea to back a few teams at the start of the season. Nothing better than telling your mates at the pub that you have the $1.80 favourite in the World Series going around at 15/1. Obviously the Red Sox and the Yankees are the two favourites; you don't have to be Einstein to work that out but if you want some good bragging rights you should back outside of these two and Sportsbet.com.au have an excellent World Series market. The first team I would have a nibble on is a New York team, but it's the Mets not the Yankees. The Mets self destructed last year but it just might make them more experienced and hungry this year. Johan Santana could well be the best off-season pick-up in the in the MLB. All you can hope is that the hype, money and the New York pressure won't get to him and he can repay the faith the Mets hopefuls have in him. Sportsbet price $7.00. The next value runner may well be the Los Angeles Angels. I am a little bias as I just love watching the Angels play. Ever since the famous "monkey off the back" series catapulted them into the limelight they just seem to play exciting baseball. They are also kings of the comeback and for some reason they love getting behind at home and then rallying at the end of the game to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat. Sportsbet price $15.00. Another smokey at a good price is the Colorado Rockies. This is the side that made it to the World Series last year. Now I must admit they were blown out of the water by the Red Sox but they did make it which gives them some credibility. They still have a great hitting line up and I think the price quoted of 26.00 at Sportsbet is way over the odds. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
