Third Test Preview - India v South Africa

The cricket world will be looking on in interest as the third test gets underway between India and South Africa. After a run scoring feast in the drawn first test, South Africa again raised issues about the Indian's commitment with a crushing innings victory against the home team. The Indians were bundled out for 76 runs in the first innings, in what can only be described as a disgraceful performance.

This test series is hugely important as both sides will be trying to lay claim to the number one spot in world cricket over the next few years. With the Australian team showing signs of age and a lack of a credible bowling attack, with the exception of Brett Lee, both India and South Africa loom as

the most likely candidates to take over control. India has incredible depth but is sometimes guilty of letting their game slip, whereas South Africa doesn't have the depth but has incredible work ethic and a professional approach.

I feel the Indians will be very hungry in the last test and I expect a much improved performance. There have been suggestions that the upcoming 20 /20 competition is distracting the players though I find this unbelievable. The Indians need to find a way to win and will be hoping to win the toss, post a large total and put the South Africans under pressure on a turning pitch.

There has also been a lot of talk about the pitch with South African officials warning the Indians against preparing a dry crumbling pitch. In a war of words South African management suggested that the Indians don't want to be facing the fast South African bowling attack on a pitch where the ball is going through the surface.

I think this will be an exciting match to follow and I think the Indians are deserved favourites. I will be backing them and praying for them to win the toss.
