NRL - Round Two Preview2008-03-18
James Potter
What a cracker of a start to the NRL season. Those of you who followed my tips would have done well as I got off to a good start picking 4 from 5.
The big winners of the weekend were Parramatta, Cronulla and Brisbane. The Eel's showed great courage and skill to get out of jail against the Bulldogs. I stand by the fact that they are the second best team going around this year, but they need to put 80 minutes together week in week out. Cronulla snared a rare win at Brookvale against Manly, which is a huge effort, and the Broncos were better than expected first up blowing away the Panthers. St George, Penrith and the Bulldogs were all awful. It could be a long season for these three if they get away to bad starts. They all have some talent but all have suffered from sub standard coaching and pre season turmoil. Well time to look at this weekend's games and the best bets of the round. Friday looms as a great night of football with South Sydney taking on the Bulldogs and Roosters hosting Brisbane. I think the Rabbitohs will bounce back and expect the Bulldogs still to be shell shocked. The other game is too tough to call. I like the Panthers to beat the Raiders on Saturday night. They let the Raiders get away with murder last year and the Panthers will be desperate for a win. Also the Sea Eagles should account for the Knights even though they will be playing in Newcastle. The rest are very hard to call and it looms as a very hard week. If I was pressed into having a bet I would work around the Titans, the Eels and the Cowboys but with no real confidence. So in short stick with South Sydney, Penrith and Manly and you should come away with some sort of result. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
