NFL Season Preview - Who is the Early Value?2008-04-05
James Potter
Brett Favre has finally decided to hang up the boots. The green and gold number 5 is back in the wardrobe and its time to contemplate a life not leading the Pack around Lambeau Field in the freezing cold. The Green Bay Packers will sorely miss the man that many rate as one of the finest players to ever play the game.
Brett Favre was a strange character. He started of as a hill-billy party boy and later grew into a revered, quiet, strong type of character who could still play after being shot with an elephant gun. Love or hate him you had to admire him. For me he didn't have the ability of a Montana, Elway, Brady or Young, but what he had was the ability to lift average teams to great heights. He also won one Superbowl and lost one when he was the best player on the field. Last year the Packers and their band of Cheese Heads had a massive season and were one win away from a fairytale ending and a Superbowl berth. This year will certainly see a rebuilding season as Favre's retirement will certainly leave a hangover. It will take some time for the Green Bay Packers to rise again to the top of the NFC but they are a unique team and one that doesn't deal with failure. I love having a dig at the Superbowl early on as you get some massive overs as there are many chances. For example you can take the Champions, the New York Giants, at $15.00 at Partybets.com. I will give you two chances that are paying over 20/1. I think the Cleveland Browns were excellent last year and they are a team starved of success with a huge football history and are currently at $26.00. The other team I like at odds are the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have a great quarterback in Vince Young, are well coached and should be better for a hit out in the playoffs last year. They are also very tasty at $34.00. The NFC looks very open and average in comparison to the depth in the AFC. There are some smart pundits tipping the New Orleans Saints will hit back with Brees and my man Bush smashing their way deep into the playoffs. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
