Darts - The 2008 UK Open Prevew2008-03-15
James Potter
If you like your sport washed down with a pint of lager and a cigarette then you might look no further than Darts. Every man and his dog has thrown a dart at a board at a pub somewhere, and the catch cry of "Ooonnne Hundred and EEEIIGHTY" is one that we all know and love.
The very best in the world are not just big in stature; they are household names in some parts of the globe and pulling in some pretty big dollars along the way. It is also a game that lends itself very well to television and it can be especially exciting if you have a few dollars or pounds riding on the result. The next big tournament on its way is the 2008 UK Open in early June. Partybets.com has an excellent market to take advantage of right now. The early favourite is England's own Phil Taylor and you can pick him up at $3.00. Slightly surprisingly the Big Dutchman, Raymond van Barneveld is on the second line of betting at $4.50 even though he is a clear leader over Taylor on the PDC order of merit this year. Make no mistake though; Taylor will be especially hard to beat on home soil. On the third line of betting is another Englishman James "The Machine" Wade who is at $6.50. Earlier this year Wade became the first player to beat Phil Taylor in the Premier League of Darts beating him 8 legs to 6. In a sport where you don't seem to hit your peak until well into your 30's or 40's, Wade, who was born and breed in Aldershot England, is something of an anomaly at the tender age of 24. John Part at $15.00 will be flying the flag for the Canadians in a sport where his fellow country men are not well renowned for their prowess. He does, however, represent huge value as he is the fourth highest money earner this year and is sitting as a clear 4th pick on the PDC Order of Merit. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
