The Waikato Chiefs Lead the Value in Title Betting for the Super 142008-02-23
James Potter
The Super 14 competition is heading into the third week of the season. We can now see how the teams are settling down and which ones have realistic chances to win the title.
The South African teams appear to be still nursing hangovers after the world cup. The Bulls and the Sharks appear to be the best of them. The Bulls, last year's winners, put in a very average display against the Crusaders last weekend. The Sharks have fared a little better and may be the best bet if you're looking for an African option. The Aussie teams are even worse. The Brumbies have lost all their champions and are in a rebuilding stage. The Reds and the Force will continue to improve but are not realistic chances this year. This leaves us with the NSW Waratahs who should be the most competitive. The problem is they lack quality play makers but they are the best of a pretty average bunch. It looks as if the New Zealand teams appear to have the edge on their competition. You could be forgiven for thinking that the competition is a two horse race with the Crusaders and the Blues appearing to be in a different class to their opposition. Both of these teams will make the final 4 and have a great chance to win. The value bet for me though is the Waikato Chiefs. They have an exciting back line that will continue to improve and a very solid forward pack that can set an excellent platform. They are not up to the standard of the Blues and the Crusaders yet, but they can get there by the end of the season. They also represent excellent value and are $11.00 to win the competition at PartyBets. News CategoriesRSS xml feed
