Run & Gun - Suns Hosting the Nuggets in the NBA2008-01-07

The NBA's gamecard may only feature two games Monday, but they are marque Western Conference power matchups. With Denver visting Phoenix and Golden State playing host to San Antonio expect a lot of fast paced, uptempo, exciting action.
The pick of the games is the Nuggets verse Suns clash which will pit two of the leagues top four scoring teams in the league against eachother. The Suns are coming off a tough loss to emerging New Orleans two days ago, which ended their four game winning streak. Meanwhile Denver are in the midst of a 3 game winning stretch, being led by a blazing hot Allen Iverson (averaging 36.7 points during the streak). This is the first of five games between these squads this season and will play a role in the standings with both teams facing a serious struggle to hold onto their division leads. The key to this matchup will most likely be who can run the game out in an offensive shoot out as neither team has a reliable defense (Phoenix give up 103.9ppg to Denver's 102.6). It is this factor that should give Phoenix the edge as they have had a days rest while Denver will be playing their fourth game in 5 days (coming off a tought fought win against Philadelphia yesterday). In addition to this, the Nuggets have been perfomed poorly on the road this season (typically unable to get their high octane offense going), with a record of just 7-7. Pheonix meanwhile have not lost two games at home this season. Given the scoring potential of these two teams covering the -7 point line should not be a problem for the rested Suns.
