NBA - Big Game Card Means Plenty of Value!2008-01-21
Jesse Penfold
With the NBA taking a back seat to the NFL playoffs yesterday (1 game) there is a huge selections of games for Monday. To go with that there is also a lot of value to be found, so lets break it down.
San Antonio @ Charlotte What would generally be considered a easy matchup for the powerful Spurs has actually taken a very interesting turn this season. With San Antonio struggling recently (losing their last 2 and 5-5 in their last 10) they have also been battling all year on the road to find wins, going just 6-9 away. The Bobcats on the otherhand have started to turn their season around, and are looking to start playing at the level many expected before the season began. Winning 5 of their last 8 games (inc wins over Denver, Orlando & Boston), they are making a move towards the East playoffs and being lead well by Gerald Wallace who has been dominating the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. All this and considering the Bobcats have been respectable at home all year (14-11) they are great value tomorrow. The Value - Bobcats @ +5.5. Portland @ Atlanta The Trailblazers shocked everyone with their 13 game win streak this season, and now they are amazing everyone with their ability to keep winning and contend for the Northwest division title. Although not in as good form as over the new year they are still firing to the tune of 6-3 over their last 9 games (inc 4-3 on the road which has been a great improvement). Atlanta meanwhile have been improving in the East, but still are not on the level of Portland who have not lost two straight games since November. The Value - Trailblazers @ +1.5 Cleveland @ Miami A game that will be pitting two of the NBA's biggest young stars in Lebron James and Dwayne Wade is going to be exciting not matter what the teams records are. All things considered however you cannot get past Miami's 8-32 record (worst in the East) and 13 game losing streak. Even Dawyne Wades return hasn't been enough to inject the life into their season the way everyone expected. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are hitting full stride as James appears to be more focused then ever, leading his team to a 8-2 record over the last 10 (inc wins in San Antonio and Dallas), as well as a current 3 game winning streak. Put simply, James has been a one man wrecking crew all season, and you would almost expect him to be able to account for the Heat by himself. The Value - Cavaliers @ -3.5 News CategoriesRSS xml feed
