NFL Week 12 Betting Preview2006-11-24
Richard Prew
Week 11 saw Indianapolis lose their unbeaten record in a high class game at the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego win their key divisional match-up at the Denver Broncos with the explosive talents of LaDainian Tomlinson to the fore.
Three quarters of the way through the regular season the play-off picture is taking shape. In the AFC (which is clearly the better conference once again) the Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots look extremely likely to fill four of the six play-off places and indeed fill four of the five top spots in the Superbowl winner betting. The only NFC team in the upper echelons of the betting is the Chicago Bears and their miserly defence which dominates the weaker conference ahead of a number of teams struggling to find consistency. My best idea for value for money in that market is the San Diego Chargers at 13/2 (Pinnacle) The weekend's action for Week 12 is truncated by three early games on Thanksgiving. It is mostly comparatively humdrum fare with one stand out: the visit of the Bears to the Patriots where double superbowl winning QB Tom Brady is the latest to pit his wits against the Bears defense. The Patriots have been struggling to find form since they were beaten by the Colts yet are priced odds on to beat the Bears who have just beaten both of the New York teams on the road, shutting out the Jets. The Bears at 1.65/1 (Pinnacle) are a big price even though they have to go to New England. Elsewhere another formidable defensive team, the Baltimore Ravens host the disappointing Pittsburgh Steelers and 5/7 is available on the home team who are extremely difficult to beat. This is a fair price and arguably generous. It should be a low scoring, run dominated game but I confidently expect the Ravens to win out . Thirdly the fast improving San Francisco 49ers visit divisional rivals the St Louis Rams in a game that may have wild card implications for the play offs. Going with the momentum of a team now stocked with drafted talent at a price -2/1- that is attractive points me in the direction of the 49ers versus a St Louis team who are now off the boil after a bright start under their new head coach. A team to watch next season, but fading for now. Selections: Chicago Bears to beat the New England Patriots (1.65-1 Pinnacle) Baltimore Ravens to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers (5/7 Pinnacle) San Francisco 49ers to beat the St Louis Rams (2/1 Expekt.com) News CategoriesRSS xml feed
