European Poker Tour: Dublin Betting2006-10-18
Paul Sandells
As the online poker world experiences a turbulent time, at least in America, the ever popular European Poker Tour continues to roll on. This time the tour heads to Dublin, Ireland. Here is our preview and betting guide.
The European Poker Tour has become one of the most attractive poker tours in the world. As America struggles to come to terms with the recent online gaming law changes, poker in Europe marches on in the pastime popularity stakes. The EPT, brainchild of poker guru and James Bond movie collaborator John Duthie, attracts poker stars from around the world. The prestige of an EPT title and the many hundreds of thousands of Euros on offer make these events a fascinating affair. Many sportsbooks open markets on EPT tournaments and Dublin is no exception. Our good friends at Bet365 have a comprehensive outright winner market. Here are the current prices: Gus Hansen 40/1 Ram Vaswani 50/1 Chris Bjorin 50/1 Julian Gardner 50/1 Marcel Luske 66/1 Dave Ulliott 66/1 Greg Raymer 66/1 Andy Black 66/1 Martin De Knijff 80/1 Mel Judah 80/1 Carlos Mortensen 80/1 Dave Colclough 80/1 Patrik Antonius 80/1 Surinder Sunar 80/1 Tony Bloom 80/1 Barney Boatman 100/1 Joe Beevers 100/1 Padraig Parkinson 100/1 Willie Tann 100/1 Joe Hachem 100/1 Ross Boatman 125/1 Roy Brindley 125/1 Simon Trumper 125/1 Kirill Gerasimov 125/1 Donnacha O'Dea 125/1 Christer Johansson 125/1 Gary Jones 125/1 Julian Thew 150/1 Paul Jackson 150/1 Per Hildebrand 150/1 Edgar Skjervold 150/1 Alan Betson 150/1 John Falconer 150/1 Lucy Rokach 150/1 Ian Woodley 150/1 Thomas Middelthon 150/1 Chris Moneymaker 150/1 John Kabbaj 150/1 Mads Andersen 150/1 Frank Callaghan 150/1 Tobias Persson 150/1 Ivo Donev 150/1 Noah Boeken 150/1 Noel Furlong 150/1 Ken Lennaard 150/1 Marty Wilson 150/1 Patric Martenson 150/1 Peter Roche 200/1 Neil Channing 200/1 Thomas Wahlroos 200/1 Conor Smith 200/1 Aleksander Strandili 200/1 Andreas Hagen 200/1 Martin Wendt 200/1 The list reads like a "who's-who" from the world of poker. Any of the players above could easily win the Dublin EPT if they played right at the top of their game and, of course, catch a little luck along the way. I see no value in backing Gus Hansen, however. Gus has not shown his early WPT form in recent years and appears more concerned with the high stakes cash games. Ram Vaswani is a much more attractive proposition for punters. Vaswani is widely regarded as the best player from The Hendon Mob. With each way paying down to the first 6 and 50/1 on offer for Ram, he will surely attract a good deal of money. For an outside each way bet, do not disregard Simon Trumper. 'ACES' took a two month break from poker at the end of summer. On his comeback at the Gutshot card club in London, only a couple of weeks ago, he suffered a terrible bad beat when looking very strong on the final table before eventually going out a creditable 4th. Ian Woodley, a man who has big event experience and is regular name towards the top of the European Rankings, is also a huge price at 150/1. Again, strong each way chances must be considered for Woodley in Dublin. Ed note: Make your European Poker Tour bets at Bet365 and earn a £100 new account bonus News CategoriesRSS xml feed
